2023 Southern Erosion Assessment - Final

The Southern Shoreline Erosion Assessment was commissioned by the City of Ocean Shores to build from previous work to develop longer-term predictions of shoreline changes in Oyhut Bay and understand what the consequences of these changes are, as well as to identify and select mitigation alternatives for the
shoreline along the Oyhut Bay Shoreline. The study was funded by the FEMA Risk MAP (Mapping, Assessment, and Planning) program and part of the FEMA CTP (Cooperating Technical Partners) program.

The shoreline along Oyhut Bay has experienced intermittent erosion over the last few decades but is now encroaching on infrastructure and private property and continues to erode critical habitat. Findings of this assessment were discussed and coordinated with local stakeholders throughout the project.
