Special Notice
Due to the situation created by COVID-19, the Utility Billing lobby located at 800 Anchor Ave NW will be closed until January 3rd, 2022. Utility Billing staff will be available during regular business hours via email and phone – contact information below. Please note that with the lobby being closed, we are experiencing higher than normal call volumes, if you are unable to reach one of our clerks, please leave a message with your contact information and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Utility Bills and the COVID-19 Emergency

The Governor’s proclamation 20-23.16 banning utility disconnections is scheduled to expire on September 30th, 2021. If you have fallen behind on your utility bill with the City of Ocean Shores, you need to ACT NOW to avoid shut offs. The City of Ocean Shores will resume shut offs and late fees beginning in January 2022.

The City of Ocean Shores is taking the following steps to provide utility bill relief during the COVID-19 emergency:

  • Water will not be disconnected for non-payment for any customer until January 2022
  • Customers financially impacted by the COVID-19 emergency may apply for a flexible payment plan. Under the flexible payment plan the City will:
    • Waive late penalties assessed for the duration of the COVID-19 emergency March 2020-December 2021 (penalties applied prior to March 2020 will not be waived.)
    • Allow customers to pay their outstanding utility balances accrued during the emergency over a 12-month period in conjunction with their current charges.

Bank Bill Payer Payments

You may choose to pay your Ocean Shores utility bill through your bank’s online bill payer system. Please be sure to include your utility billing account number in the proper format XXXXXX-XXX. In many instances, your bank will send a physical check to us by mail. Please be sure to schedule your payments accordingly as there may be a delay with their processing and the post office. Payments received after the due date may be subject to late fees.

Reduced Rate for Utility Billing Program

The City of Ocean Shores provides an assistance program for those that qualify. The program is based on income and goes off the federal poverty guidelines that are released at the beginning of each year. For those that are eligible this would give a 50% discount on bimonthly statements. Click here to see requirements and to apply.
