250 S Razor Clam Drive

Public-Announcement

It has come to the City’s attention, misinformation circulating the property of 250 S Razor Clam Drive.

The owners of the property known as Father & Son’s Ministries had previously applied for a conditional use permit in 2019 to utilize the property as a retreat center. The request for conditional use was denied by the Hearing Examiner citing it did not meet the requirements of the Ocean Shores Municipal Code.

See final Hearing Examiners decision:

The City of Ocean Shores will not grant approval of a building permit for the specified use of the property most recently denied by the Hearing Examiner under application for CUP 19-01.

On Friday, March 18, 2022 the City was notified that the lot located at 250 S Razor Clam Drive had been cleared with what was displayed as an expired clearing permit as of November 12, 2021. This information has been provided to the City of Ocean Shores Planner who will begin an investigation into the circumstances of events that transpired.

To date the property located at 250 S Razor Clam Drive has applied for a single-family residential building permit. As of March 21, 2022 the single-family residential building permit has not been approved or issued by the City of Ocean Shores Building Department.

The City is dedicated to upholding the requirements of the Ocean Shores Municipal Code and at this time the property owners have not been approved for a building permit based on the plans that respectfully submitted to the Building Department.

We will continue to monitor the property and ensure the use of the property is being conducted as applied for, while be cognizant of City, State and Federal laws for approval as it pertains to single-family dwellings.

Thank you,
Jon Martin
Mayor
