Friends of the LibraryIn 2006 volunteers spent 394 hours helping in the Library. They shelved books, helped to repair and process books, assisted staff with programming, and worked on data entry. The Friends of the Library undertake much of this volunteer activity. Formed in 1972, they are an active group that provides substantial financial support for the Library. Their main fund raiser is a used book sale held on the second Saturday of each month, located behind the Permit Center at 710 Pt. Brown Ave. N.E. The Friends meet on the second Monday of each month at 2 p.m. in the Library meeting room. Friends of the Library dues are $10.00 per person per year, or $100.00 for a lifetime membership.
